Second hunting simulation game

Hunting Simulator 2 is a video game from Neopica. As the name implies, it is the second installment to the simulation game of the same name. Here, you will explore the Texan desert and forests of Colorado and Europe to track down 33 animal species.

As far as hunting games go, Hunting Simulator 2 feels more of one than its predecessor. The animals are more skittish and sparse, adding more challenge to the game and making it more realistic. It even adds a dog to be your hunting companion. It also requires players to follow real-life rules of ethical hunting.

The hunting season begins

Hunting Simulator 2 is exactly what its name suggests. Here, you will explore various open-world environments to track down animals for sport. You will also have a wide variety of weapon options you can use to shoot them. It starts with a hub area called the Lodge, where you can buy licenses to hunt animals, purchase weapons, and modify them with scopes.

Note, however, that there is an appropriate caliber of weapons for every animal species. As the game follows the real-life ethical rules of hunting, using an inappropriate gun will have you penalized. Unnecessary and excessive kills will lead you to lose the money you earned. You should also learn how to be stealthy in your hunt as the animals are more skittish in this game than in the previous one.

To help you in your hunt, you can now buy a companion dog from the lodge. The commands you can give will depend on the breed of the dog you purchase. Players will also find the audio for commands a bit stiff or robotic. More than the subpar audio, the graphics of the game are also less impressive the closer you get. Even the animals look unrealistic.

Not really that realistic

Overall, Hunting Simulator 2 offers a positive experience, especially for the fans of the first iteration. The mechanics are easy to understand, and the controls are quite smooth. The hunting rules also follow real-life hunting ethics, making the hunt feel realistic. However, the audio and graphics could use some work. The animations and sounds are very stiff, and the animals do not look unrealistic.

  • Realistic hunting ethics
  • Additional dog companion
  • Download size is not too big
  • Variety of weapons

CONS

  • Unrealistic animal details
